Stephen King's the Stand sorta predicted this..

In the book (which deals with society after a big flu-like virus wipes out 99.9% of the world population) some people are watching a movie in a cinema setup. There, it was called Rambo IV: the Fire Fight so King only missed by one but it's still Rambo vs dope dealers.

I wonder if the writers were inspired by the book?

Thats quite the prediction given that "The stand" book was written in '78, four years prior to the first Rambo film.
"First Blood" the novel was published in 72, so SK would have to have forseen the entire series of films from that book - which i think ends with a dead Rambo

In this case, the original poster may have read the version of the Stand that King released in the 80's or 90's with additional material and had some of the pop culture references contemporized.

ah , he pulled a Lucas. I see .

Yeah, it was annoying. King wasn't content to just put out the uncut version of the book, he had to go back and revamp it a bit too. We'll never know what the actual original version was like. It actually created a few more problems that it fixed if you get into the nitty gritty of the details. There's whole essays about it out there.

I've read them all. One edition has the Rambo reference. Valid.
