I'm considering watching this but, before I decide, I'd like you to give me a basic idea of it's quality. Please rate the following:
Acting: /10
Special Effects (for a series, I'm not expecting movie quality): /10

Before I start, let me say that I'm a massive fan of the show, so not sure I'm capable of being totally objective but here goes anyway.
Acting - top notch with the 2 leads. 10/10 for them.
Special Effects - up and down. Definitely got better as the show went on, but I wasn't watching it to be stunned with effects. More importantly, for myself at least, I would give the cinematography 10/10 and confidently say it's movie quality. Some of the settings and scenery, and the shots they go with, are breathtaking. Also the fight scenes are amazing.
Writing - up and down, maybe 7/10. Some episodes got a bit repetitive and predictable but always moved the story along in terms of the bond between Arthur and Merlin, so I was inclined to forgive this and just enjoy their performances and chemistry together.
Entertainment - 10/10 Mainly because I found it to be so refreshingly innocent. Other shows try to out do each other with sensational story lines (sex, drugs, swearing etc) but none of that here. It often manages to be hilarious, scary and heart-wrenchingly sad all in one episode, which is quite a feat to pull off in my opinion.
Final note - if you find bromance interesting you will love this show. Otherwise you might find the little things that aren't quite 100% with it annoy you.

Last thing - the music throughout is absolutely stunning. It really raises the whole thing up.
I have gone on to buy a lot of the soundtrack and listen to it often.

I just recently found this show and absolutely love it... The acting is fantastic, the writing is good although it can be annoying when it doesn't follow the legends completely, although that isn't terrible and it doesn't hurt the show. The special effects aren't perfect but are not terrible and don't really take anything away from it... Also the cinematography is stunning... The shots are beautiful and the sets are as well... I very quickly fell in love with this show... The actors are very lovable as are the characters and I think it's definitely worth a watch!

Special effects: 6/10 - Awful at first but gets much better as series goes on and budget increases. Special effects are not important, though.
Writing: 8/10 - Has it's ups and downs, but is generally great and I've enjoyed every episode.
Entertainment: 10/10 - One of my favourite series. Five series arc that gets darker as it goes along.

special effects were crappy in the first couple of seasons, then improved. say 3/10 to 7/10.
writing. heh. omigod. don't get me started.
entertainment. fluff with moments of surprising emotional depth. 8/10

Special Effects - 6/10 8-10 later seasons
Writing - 6/10 Only because it became redundant with time and the central characters very purpose was never fulfilled with a pretty lame excuse at the end.
But as individual episodes and seasonal plot arcs go, I'd say 8/10 usually.
Entertainment - 10/10
