Violet and winton thanksgiving

I'm sure this might have been brought up already, but I know violet plays a British character and winton I think is Scottish. So being that they aren't American wouldn't they the hold onto their roots why would they celebrate thanksgiving together? I mean maybe it's something they picked up from being in America , but still seems like something they wouldn't really do unless they were with other Americans.

Mexican's in the US celebrate Thanksgiving. You pick it up while you live here. With Vi & Winton, they also have the week off from school so why not celebrate?

If you notice all they had was a small dinner. No turkey or the "fixins". Take away the fact they mention its thanksgiving and that could have easily had been an ordinary Thursday dinner.

Winton was Welsh. Accent is a clue. Played by a Welsh actor is another clue. Final clue is him mentioning going home to his family's farm in Wales.
I thought the same about Thanksgiving then noticed the food and concluded he was being sarcastic. Or ironic depending on what side of the Atlantic you live.

Totally forgot another clue. He called his dog Gwyrth, Welsh for miracle

You're in the US.
It's thanksgiving day.
You've got a thanksgiving day holiday.
You're going to have dinner with your partner.

You can hardly avoid having a 'thanksgiving day' dinner.

In much the same way, in a lot of countries a great many Jews join in the 'Christmas' celebrations simply because it's a big holiday.
