Alex from pretty exec to dowdy wife with dishpan hands
She was made to look very plain (excuse the pun) in this scene. I think it's really good movie.
In connection with this scene I remember many years ago I drove to see my girlfriend (a pretty girl) and arrived at least 2 hours early having left far too much time for the journey. Finding her flat could be a little tricky because these were pre satnav and mobile phone days (well mobiles did exist but they were hideously expensive and a size of a brick)
As pulled up outside a guy came out and unchained his bicycle - he gave me a funny look before pedalling away.
When I met my girlfriend I sensed something wasn't right and she told me she had started to see someone else - well as texting didn't exist at least I didn't have that indignity.
I drove home feeling upset and angry because I'd driven a long way and she could have told me over the phone but I suppose (just like Clooney) that sometimes facing up to things face to face with a person is better than any remote contact.
Where am I now? Still up in the air in many ways.
