The cut-out of the couple should have been...

...stood up by itself. Every scene where they were taking photos of it was irritating the crap out of me since it had a very obvious stand on the back. That was the whole point of the cut-out. Not to have someone's giant hand shoving it in front of a landmark.

lol good observation

though i felt for Ryan when he brought all those pictures to his sister, thinking it was something precious and personal that he's done for her, only to see dozens of other pictures on the map

Well he knew he wasn't only one but it was some effort to carry around and retrieve from water. I don't remember if she thanked him or if it was just "the board is over there."

Consider the daffodil. And while you're doing that I,ll be over here looking through your stuff.

Cardboard, outdoors, even a mild wind?

I don't know. Not exactly a major plot point. Maybe it was a metaphor? Ryan doesn't realize people can stand up by themselves without his help. Though that really doesn't make much sense....

It did have something on the back that would have allowed it to stand up on its own. If you look closely at the scene in Miami right before the picture blew into the water you can clearly see it had some sort of fold out stand attached to it. Although I don't know why because in order to use it, most of the pictures had nothing but the ground to stand it on therefore why someone was always holding it.
