A lot of the POV camera shots in this movie are really outstanding, especially when we follow Oscar's spirit as it flies around the city. Some of it was done with editing, but other shots looked like the camera must have been flying, too. It was obviously literally flying in a helicopter in the night shots at the end above the city, but I'm curious about how they filmed some of the other shots.

How did they film Alex when we followed him from overhead as he was running on the street away from the police just after Oscar was shot? Was the camera high up on a crane that was driven behind Alex or maybe suspended on a cable and pulled to follow him, or what?

Also, in some interior shots when the camera floated up above people and then down again - like in the hospital, I think it was - how did they do that? Were the ceilings very high and the camera on a crane? Did they shoot all these floating camera scenes with a remote camera with no operator?

The filmmakers used a range of techniques, including cranes, helicopter footage, scale models of the city, and digital FX. Here is a great interview with the film's vfx supervisor:

Thanks. Nice interview.
They fooled me. There was a lot more digital FX than I imagined. I thought the city flyover was real with some added colors but it looks like they added a lot more than just some neon to the digital footage.

The interviewer asks about the flyover following Oscar's death, which is what I asked about, but the vfx supervisor responds with a description of the 5 minute high altitude flyover and not the more close-up shots of Alex. I don't see how that could have been done digitally, but what do I know - I thought the fish-eye interior shots were live action, too.
