I've binged watched half the season last night and I had to force my self to go to sleep just so I'd be able to put in 2-3 hrs of sleep before work. This series is that addictive. Its exactly what I thought I'd never see again after Watchmen and after a decade of family friendly, politically correct, cookie cutter Marvel movies(great effort there, don't get me wrong) and DC's..ehm reactive efforts to maybe capture some of that Marvel(ous) glory. [DC had the chance to be The Boys of the Silver screen due to their inherent darker tone but no... everything had to be Marvel(ous) to be successful - but this is a story for another day, another thread.]

Back to The Boys - The pilot was a surprise, I was hooked from the first 10 mins. I cant remember the last time a Pilot was that good(maybe since Breaking Bad's?) Then you have the characters, all perfectly chosen (congrats to the casting team). The writing is near perfect. The pacing is like a black hole griping you and not letting go once you pass its Event Horizon (Pilot episode). The language, nudity and jabs at politically correct tropes/appearances and religion are unapologetic. Its like the production team was sealed in room away from external influence with a sole purpose - create a superhero story that you thought you would never see from Disney and DC, create a story, characters you are actually excited about, show us the other side of the coin. They did exactly that. I cant wait to go back home and see the rest of it. I cant wait for season 2.

Damn...this show is like a long time coming trip up in the mountains, a breath of fresh air.

But how original — contrarian posts. (The name here says it all ‘course.)

Anywho, as is customary expect more of this every time another “groundbreaking” gritty and unconventional superhero show or movie (Netflix & FX say welcome to the club, Amazon), and one that obviously has no involvement by the unstoppable Marvel & the House of Money, comes out. :P

How the PC crap evolves?

I read in a review (I posted it here in a thread) that it starts free of PC crap but it turns out politically correct after episode 5. Is that true?

You realize not everyone is interested in every idiot's review, right?.. The show is highly worthwhile, that ridiculous whiny review you posted is not. I didn't have the patience to get through it.

Frankly, you don't sound very smart with this insistence.

As if you'll accept any answer you get other than the one you already want to be true...

That said, I saw nothing particularly PC in the show. It's full of murder, rape, swearing, shooting, eye-gouging and neck-snapping. The guy who rapes the main female character doesn't really suffer any major repercussions for his act, and the girl doesn't seem to care much either way. I know race is a big deal to you, so take comfort in knowing that the primary villain is a black guy, and he suffers right and left. The three main heroes are all white, two males and a female. She's blonde. Nonetheless, I have faith in your ability to be triggered by non-existent SJW Diversifarian Feministical whatever the hell, so you will no doubt find evidence that it's another anti-white-male propaganda piece. Someone said a character who was male in the comic is female in the show, so there's a trigger warning for you.

I answered you in a long rant on another post (sorry). More succinctly: no, it doesn't go downhill after Ep 5. I doubt any fan would think so.

I'm with you, Red. I binged without intending to binge. I sat down thinking it was probably a silly parody of Avengers and I'd give it 20 minutes or so. Then I watched one after the other, and dammit, I had to know what happened!

And unlike many series, I never thought there was a throwaway episode. Everything counted, everything needed to happen and be said.

And as comic books go: I don't read them (don't read much of anything), and while I like the Avengers movies, I just like them--I'm not a big fan, just someone that enjoys them.

So this show reeled me in like a fish on a hook and never let me go. I'm still amazed at how good it is.

The best part about is that it went under my radar and I just happened to see a Facebook comment on how good this new Amazon series was etc. Boy oh boy what a welcome surprise....its been a long time since I got this excited about a tv series. Reinvigorating.

Guess I'm curious as to the PC elements you hate in Marvel so much that you don't see with the Boys (genuine curiosity since I find a lot of people misuse that word, like irony).
