I didn't get this in the trailer and I still didn't get it in the film. There's a scene of a French trapper running away and the Predator fires a spear or arrow at him, and then something gets impaled on the tree. What actually gets impaled on the tree?

shareits the same as AVP - the predator fires a net at running frenchman that twists around him and the log and crushes/cut the man along with the log and net goes back into its holder.
same as AVP when the predator fires the net onto the alien but the alien manages to break free but has all the square cuts on his face.
I don't remember AVP well enough but I think I know what you're saying. They still made it confusing though as to how they presented his death. Could have been done better.
shareThe predator chucking it and then the camera angles in from below showing everything being crushed on top and the net going back into the holder, they should of shown the net crushing the guy and the log from the top or side angle instead.
Definitely poor angle shot and kinda dark aswell had to re-watch that bit.
We are still talking about the same scene aren't we? It's the same one you see in the trailer. Some French guy is running, and the next thing you see is apparently some part of him on the tree from an angle that is in front of the tree. It didn't show anything being crushed, just something being impaled.
shareThere are only 2 other scenes in the trailer i can see which you might be talking about.
one with when the predator is holding one of the frenchman against the tree and another ones next to him and he flicks the axe and kills the second frenchman with the axe and then cuts the first's one head with his shield. (1:04.43 in the movie)
the second other part is where it's Naru not a frenchman that is standing next to a tree and she runs away - while the predator comes flying in and hits the tree with his hand knives, which impale the tree. (1:24.52 in the movie)
Ah maybe I need to see the movie again. I'm sure I saw one of the French men running away and the next thing you see is the Predator firing at him, and something (clearly not the whole Frenchman) getting impaled on a tree. I was half asleep at the time so might have missed it.
