shareMine to. This movie officaly made me a WW fan.
"They scream and they cry...much as your doing now"
defo, id never been fussed about WW before.
iv read about people not liking all the jokes but it genuinly made me lol in places and the humour was aimed at adults, also the violence was a bit more grown up than the other animated movies :)
Okay, as a true longtime WW fan, I will explain to you ALL, once & for all, exactly WHY long time diehard fans hate this movie:
1. Its not true to the mythos
2. It has more tones of misandry than the normal Wonder woman.
Basically, all you newbies are coming in fresh, so all you see is a cool movie. But you don't know what the true WW is. Your first impression of WW is this friggin movie, so of course your gonna accept it for whatever it is.
Had this movie been about a different character, maybe it'd be better received. But this is Wonder Woman we're talking about! She's not a hardened warrior, the Amazons are not supposed to be man-haters. Basically its JUST ALL WRONG, GOT IT?!!
Jeeez
Get it thru your thick skulls!!
fair enough, point taken. if they messed up a character i knew something about id feel the same way.
shareGet it through YOUR thick skull that some of us really enjoyed the movie, you self righteous twat.

As a long time WW fan I'm on the boat of "this is just something us longtime fans need to get over."
It's an adaption, things are going to be changed. Change itself isn't bad, you'd think comic book fans would be used to this by now with how much everything changes due to writers. Be it characters, stories or even universes. When you look at movies, tv shows, or even comics based on these superheroes, they're going to be different. Look at Batman, Burton and Nolan's Batman movies were very different than the comics, from the way they handled the stories and characters themselves. Were they bad movies?
Things should be looked at as its own individual thing. Does it do what it sets out to do well and fit within the confines of that story being told? Does it entertain?
You yourself admitted that it would be seen as good if not for knowing about the things it does differently.
p.s.
And this really isn't something to get so worked up over.
Good call, if everything stayed the same people would be complaining "it's the same old stuff".
When I read G/L comics he and g-Arrow were on earth fighting slum lords & drugs & social problems in the 1960's.
I liked the GL animated series a lot more. Things were different than the 60's thank the Sapphires, and better than I remember them. Gl:TAS is different from the other 2 GL movies & I love them all (except Super Friends).
I am 50 yo w-male & I love Wonder Woman Both the JLU & Linda Carter & what I have seen so far of this movie. I pulled this out when I had an 84 yo woman guest (Mom) & her first reaction was I am not watching dumb crap. I started with the extras on the Blue Ray. Just the story of how Wonder Woman was created & why got her interested. She was in the next room reading & When she heard "And they don't need men" she laughed out loud & sat down to watch. She had been listening to the whole thing & liking what she heard. She was 14 years old when WW came out & never really saw it but understood in the history the crap women were served. We only got about ten minutes in (& were interrupted)but she really likes it!
Just the extras have made this a purchase B-Ray on next order item, I have a Netflix disc. The role she played in womens empowerment/rights needs its own thread but this whole package kicks tail. Young women should least see the extras to see how Mom & Grandmom were treated.
I think they whole Blue Ray DVD is a great package, and so does at least 1 old lady.

I have to agree. The Misandry is what really bugs me. In George Perez version didn't have Wonder Woman acting like such a bitch. Or Treating Steve Trevor like Sh!t. If this a Wonder Woman live action movie would look like. I sure as hell wouldn't want to see it. Frankly I thought Superman Doomsday was better than this. Sure when they make Super-heroes movies they do wind up changing something. But what matters is if they keep to the core of the character. And in this I don't think they did. That's pretty bad coming from Bruce Timm.

shareMaybe because its simply not good.
shareI just saw this on Cinemax recently and I really loved it, I'm not a huge comic book fan but I liked the way they portrayed Wonder Woman in this movie and the story.
