The twist?

The director said this movie will also has a twist.
What do you think it's going to be?

For me the twist is: is not a prequel, it's acually a sequel, Esther is still alive, and the "first kill" thing in the title maybe it's because is her "first kill" in another country?

reply

I don’t know but we will see. I hope to make it to theaters to see it. The first movie is one of the few horror movies that made me sick to my stomach while watching it.

reply

I saw it! It was unexpected twist, but good one.

reply

I'm sure you've seen the movie by now, but if not, I'll give you a hint. It seems to take inspiration from a very popular theory regarding the case of JonBenet Ramsey.

reply

I personally haven't seen it. I'm a huge fan of "Orphan" but have been disinterested in the sequel. This is mostly due to the trailers I've watched. Isabelle Fuhrman now looks ridiculous as Esther. She's 22 or 23, how can you still believe her as a 9 year old? ANyway, a couple of questions if you don't mind:

Was "Orphan 2" any good?

What is the JonBenet connection? As it happens, I've studied her case thoroughly. I don't see how you can connect Esther and her background (a lunatic with a disease from another country) to the JBR case.

reply

You mean “uninterested,” which means “have no interest.”

“Disinterested” means “impartial.”

reply

Right, well, then in fact I am uninterested in "Orphan 2". What does interest me is the supposed JonBenet Ramsey case inspiration. If anyone knows what it is, I'd love to know as I can't see how there can be any connection whatsoever.

reply

the twist is pretty simple: in this movie, not only esther has a secret, also the family she wrangels herself in turns out to have a dark secret.

it's a campy little thriller. only worth a watch if you're a fan of the original and curious to see isabelle fuhrman as esther again (even though it takes a while to suspend disbelief, as she does look considerably older).

reply

Ok, That sounds interesting. Maybe the family has killed one of their own and tried to cover it up (this would be the JBR connection). Thanks for the info.

reply

Burke Ramsey killed his sister and his parents covered up what he did to protect him

Just throwing this out there, the Grand Jury indicted John and Patsy for

- unlawfully, knowingly, recklessly, and feloniously permitting a child to be unreasonably placed in a situation which posed a threat to the child's life or health, which resulted in the death of JonBenet (JonBenet being around Burke would be the threatening situation, Burke was a threat to her)

- unlawfully, knowingly, and feloniously rendering assistance to a person (Burke), with intent to hinder, delay, prevent discovery, detention, apprehension, prosecution, conviction, and punishment of such person (Burke), for the commission of a crime, knowing the person (Burke) being assisted has committed and was suspected of the crime of murder in the first degree

reply

I caught on to the JonBenet connection too. Definitely seems like the screenwriters used the theory for their script.

reply

I didn’t see the twist coming, even though I knew there was going to be a twist. It was really well done.

reply

It’s not a fucking “twist.” Every development in the narrative grew organically out of the dynamics of the plot. This was pretty ho-hum for the first half. I watched it ‘cause I subscribe to Paramount+. It took off like a house afire in the second half as the mother, asshole brother and Orphan gradually revealed their true natures—natures whose seeds had been planted in the first half: asshole privileged arrogant brother who enjoys combat, social-climbing and calculating manipulative bitch mother, and The Orphan. No twist. No bunny-rabbit-out-of-the-hat.

Okay, there WAS a dead mouse.

reply

So the twist isnt that there wasnt a missing little girl after all?

reply

That was most definitely a twist if you have seen the first orphan...And when it happened it made the movie Jump from a predictable 4 out of 10 to an exciting 8 out of a 10. You also get to see the acting chops of Isabelle Fuhrman As she switches from playing a her typical role in orphan...the banter between her and julia styles was hilarious..And it made the first half of the movie make sense. This movie is fucking good...very good for being a prequel, which is one of the hardest things to pull off in the film industry.
