What is this about?

I have only read the book..and it would be hard to say much about it without giving stuff away....but the book is about these women who have a reunion at their South African private school, where they were all on the swim team.

They had a very close bond and some secrets which involved their old teacher Miss G. For the most part, the book is told in flashback, though I think there might be occasional "modern" bits. The book is very dark and unsettling.

The movie is bound to be quite different and I don't believe it is set in SA. The only girls whose names remained the same are Di and Fiama and Miss G.

I haven't read the book but I saw the film today. Don't worry- I won't reveal any spoilers!

Basically the story revolves around a group of girls at a British boarding school. The girls are all on the diving team which is coached by Miss G, a beautiful & daring type who tells them that life is all about "desire." Miss G is an object of fascination, adoration & infatuation for "her" girls, but the balance of their world is dramatically shifted when a new girl arrives- an aristocrat from Spain who surpasses even Miss G in beauty, sophistication & exotic mystery.

The film's really beautifully done, with plenty of conflict & interesting turns. The acting is phenomenal & each of the girls is a rich character (lead by the brilliant Eva Green as Miss G). Looks like it should be in major release in the next few months- obviously I recommend it!
