I've seen it

I had tickets to the opening night for Cracks and really i had know clue what it was about before. I loved it, it was pretty dark and all the actresses were amazing in it. Eva green who I saw after is absolutely stunning but incredibly incredibly thin, like wow. also 2 of the girls who played her students were there as well, they looked so much older in real life and were chain smoking behind the theatre when i left.
I dont want to give away too much of the plot because i think it makes it better seeing it without knowing the exact plot but lets just say that it was a great story and absolutely beautifully shot. Eva was my favourite in it, she was just so intimidating and such an amazing actress. I dont want to give spoilers but if anyone wants to know anything else about it just post here and ill answer it

Thank you emilee. The girls were Juno Temple (Di) and Maria Valverde (Fiamma). Did your grandma liked the film?
Were there any scenes that you would like to comment on (without revealing much of the magic...)?

I read the book so nothing really can be spoilt for me anyway, if you have, is it close to the book? major changes?

reply

yeah thanks my grandma loved it, wasnt too happy about climbing all the stairs to the seats but regardless loved it haha.
i've never read the book but cant compare.
my favourite scenes are when ms. G teaches the girls diving, they are so beautifully shot. eva green was just so good at these scenes, like you could see it in her eyes how she was watching the girls and at first these scenes seem really inspirational until things unravel - cracks.
another scene i loved is when the girls have a midnight feast party - they get drunk and not going to say what happens but i think this was the climax of the movie
the setting was just amazing and really added to the film, made it somewhat ethereal. the director said after that she wanted to make everything seem so beautiful because she remembered what it was like to go to a school life that, where everyone is trapped in the bubble of the school like in a fairytale, when they believe that is all there is and dont pay attention to the outside world.
let me know if you have anymore questions you want answered, i dont mind i really loved it

Thanks emilee. You challenge me to ask more questions. Check the board often for more questions as you are our source now :)

PS I suppose the movie is appropriate for 13-14 years old girls and boys. Isn't it?

reply

haha no i wouldnt really say this movie is appropriate for 13-14 year olds, im not sure if they'd be able to appreciate unless they were quite mature

reply

Ooops! Why? Because of the violence at the end or the sexual content? I am asking because the girls in the movie are about this age.

reply

The girls in this movie, they are playing teens but all of them are in their early twenties. The movie's rating should let you know if the movie is alright for what age range. I'm guessing it will be rated R though.

reply

I think the main characters are about fifteen or sixteen, but I wouldn't recommend it for thirteen year olds, especially boys. Not least because the first act is quite slow and a lot of the content and conflict arises from assumed knowledge of the cruelty of teenaged girls and the repression of a thirties C of E boarding school, which younger teens may well not have.

I think it's rated 15 in the UK, and it's bound to be an 18 in Ireland.

Hey,
what's the supporting cast like, the other girls in the team? Only because i know they haven't done any other stuff i was wondering if they're good? i hope they were because i imagine the film depends on them being a believable group of close friends. :)

I saw the film at TIFF today and all the girls are great---particularly those who play Di and Fiamma who are excellent.

I loved the movie; it's probably one of the best I've seen at the festival this year!
