Miss G. use these metaphor to provoke Di as revenge to Fiamma, because Di also love Miss G.

It is "Palestine" or "Philistines"?

If "Palestine"
This is 1930's movie, not supposed to use metaphor from Israel (Gaza) and Palestine conflict.

If "Philistines"
Miss G. tell novel story to fool the girls that she is an adventurer.
Metaphor used by Miss G. to depict her love misery to Fiamma, picked from Samson (Miss G.) & Delilah (Fiamma) story.

Miss G. words mentioned here...
http://www.rense.com/general67/eye.htm
In Aldous Huxley's 1955 novel.

Delilah (Fiamma) betray Samson (Miss G.) by telling his weakness to the Philistines, or in Miss G. version...
"She intends to spread hateful lies about me."
Knowing Samson's weakness, his enemy make him blind (eyeless).
Miss G. "weakness" is a fact that she is a lesbian and has seduced Fiamma, she won't Di, who actually is eyewitness, and others realized that.

Philistine is palestine in arabic

"Philistines" means "Palestinians" as the people of Palestine
and i heard Gaza which i also in palestine/israel

i know that the movie's time was suppose to around 30s where there was no conflict between palestine and israel, thats why i got confused

i'll check the link you gave me (which i am grateful for)

& thnx for your response :)

In my previous post, in the link...
http://www.rense.com/general67/eye.htm
Aldous Huxley's novel of Samson & Delilah published in 1955.

Then I found in Wiki...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eyeless_in_Gaza
The novel first published in 1936.

Now it is make sense that Miss G. metaphor is taken from Aldous Huxley's novel.

It also concluded that Cracks setting in 1930's is after 1936.
Because Miss G. quote at movie ending, mentioned from Aldous Huxley's novel that first published at 1936.
