I don't get it...

I really don't understand this movie...i don't know if i just completely blanked or i'm just stupid but could someone please explain to me? I don't understand the whole miss G thing, what's her relationship with the girls other than teacher? I don't know why juno's character hates fiamma so much. I just don't get it...could you please sum it up for me? Thanks <3

Juno Temple's character Di is the pet of Miss G. until Fiamma comes along. suddenly Miss G. is fascinated by her and not Radfield. Di of course becomes jealous. we find out that Fiamma is not really a bad person at all.

Fiamma calls Miss G. out. it turns out Miss G. is not as well renouned as she presents herself to be. she has never traveled the world. let alone left the school. in fact she was a student at the school before she became a teacher.

Miss G. becomes enamored by Fiamma. because Fiamma is everything she isn't. young, confident, and well traveled. she doesn't just want Fiamma. on some level she wishes to become her. Fiamma creates further ripples when she points out that the Swim class never competes against other schools. Miss G. wants the girls all to herself.

In the end Miss G. has suffered from never leaving the school. even going to town to pick up some groceries she has to recite what to say because she is so nervous and shy outside of the school. even at the end she still places only three items on her nightstand.

The girls gang up on Fiamma and beat her with sticks after Fiamma tells that Miss G. raped her and will be leaving. Miss G. comes along and takes away her Inhaler as Fiamma gasps for air. Di and the other girls despise Miss G. for killing Fiamma. Radfield can no longer cope being stuck in Miss G.'s world and leaves on the ferry to start a new life. Miss G. is not blamed for the death and takes a leave of abscense stuck in her own mind as a perpetual teenager.

Thanks. :-) I was actually surprised by the movie. It looked so cliche' in the trailer. But turned out to be thought provoking.

You're welcome! I only watched it because of Juno Temple. I recently rented Dirty Girl, and the whole time I was like "Ive seen this girl in another movie"...turned out it was Atonement! I thought the movie was cute and couldnt believe how well she churned out an Oklahoma accent. I decided to rent some more she was in.
