The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie?

Did anyone else see an opportunity to compare/contract between Cracks and The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie?

In how she dealt with Miss G., Di reminded me of the character of Sandy in The Prime.

One big difference was that Miss Brodie was had men in her life; the school had male teachers who lived in the same town as that school. In Cracks, there were no male teachers and the school was in a rather remote location.

It did except Jean Brodie was merely very misguided and got one of her students in jeopardy based on her romantic notions of Fascist Spain. Miss G., on the other hand, is pretty much a sexual predator and out-and-out villain by the end--even though she's not COMPLETELY unsympathetic.

Juno Temple as Di does have a similar role to Sandy except she doesn't pose nude for and carry on an affair with the male art teacher (strange, considering Temple's very undraped career since this movie). She would have been a good Sandy in a remake of "The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie", but she's probably getting too old now.

I agree with your compare and contrast.

Yes, I thought of that film. Young students on the cusp of womanhood and their charismatic, but dangerous, female teacher. (Well, at least Jean was dangerous to Mary Magregor). Both not quite living in the real world.
