Heavenly Creatures and Picnic at Hanging Rock
But nowhere near as good as either of those...
shareOn that note, Poppy did remind me of Juliet from Heavenly Creatures.
Don't forget the Prime of Ms. Jean Brodie, too!
Just sayin'...
And The Children's Hour.
That's what it honestly reminded me of. I dug it.
shareI've always though they should make a "Lord of the Flies" with females, but somewhat older females (preferably played by typically hot twenty-something "teenagers"). I suppose this was close to that.
With Eva Green, Maria Valverde, AND Juno Temple I would have predicted this to be some kind of European skin-fest, but I actually found it to be a pretty interesting film.
There's a great book called "John Dollar" by Marianne Wiggins that is a female Lord of the Flies-- always thought it would make a great movie
share"It's derivative of The Prime Of Miss Jean Brodie and Lord Of The Flies." -- costar Imogen Poots.
shareThose are good movies, but I don't really see the similarities. The lesbianism is not nearly as explicit in "Heavenly Creatures" and it involves more shared childish fantasies between girls of the same age. "Picnic at Hanging Rock" has a whole metaphysical or at least metaphoric element to it, and the only thing it really has in common with this is it's takes place in a rural girls' boarding school.
I'd say this is IS fairly close to "The Prime of Jean Brodie" though. It's also similar to the Canadian movie "Lost and Delirious"
Lost And Delirious too, i didn't dug Heavenly Creatures that much but Picnic was indeed better than this
so many movies, so little time
