Far-fetched plot, muddled exposition

The film was hampered from the start by a ludicrous plot. I kept trying to imagine how this might have been acceptable in the Fritz Lang version or if, say, it had been set in outer space but it didn't "work" at all as a contemporary thriller. People here have criticized the acting, which was terrible - and therefore didn't overcome the ludicrousness of it all, as riveting characters might have given it a chance. In addition, while it was set in Shreveport, Louisiana, it could as well have been any place with a few large buildings - the "atmosphere" was of a TV program filmed on a back lot. SPOILER ALERT - It was a foregone conclusion that there would be a "Hollywood ending" and "justice would be served," but the way it unfolded in the end was muddled and just plain dumb. I'd keep away from this unless you are interested just out of curiosity to see how NOT to craft a dramatic thriller.
