Where did Freddy get his glove in this movie?

If he didn't kill anyone when he was alive in this version then where did he get his glove from? I guess he could have made it in the "dream world" but why would be it be made out of an old leather glove and copper pipes then? If anything, shouldn't his glove look more like the New Nightmare one where it was a part of him. There's no reason this iteration would have the glove anyway because he wasn't a killer (until he died.)

Unless I'm missing something the only reason he has a clawed glove in this movie is because he had one in the original and people expect him to have it.

I don't think it makes sense. In the original he killed people with it. In the remake, there's a shot of claw marks on the back of a little girl. Did he make the glove so that he could scratch the children's backs with it while raping them? What sense does it make? I hated that he was a mere pedophile in this movie. It's way less scary than a child murderer.

Wow, I didn't realise the glove was not a part of his character while he was alive till you pointed it out. Yet another way this movie was a hot mess I guess.

Next time I watch this movie I will be paying attention to that. That really does suck, as does that whole background to his character.

I don't think I ever got why he killed children when he was alive in the original thought but would only kill teenagers while they were sleeping on Elm Street after he died.

He built it to scratch the kids in his secret cave. Do you need everything spelled out for you?

In the Original, they showed him making the glove. I remember it was at the beginning of the movie, Freddy was making it and sharpening the blades..

Taking away the serial killer aspect of his
character when he was alive just ruins it
for me in this remake because that's apart
of Freddy who he is. Sure he's a killer
in the dream world but still it sucks how
they just half ass re-written the character.
Original Freddy was a sadistic murderer before and
after death. That's what made him more creepier
because here he was once a living breathing man
who was a sick bastard who went out and butchered
children in the small Springwood Ohio town
and after he died came back as a demonic force
in the dreams of the kids and is still killing them
but as teenagers.

Just making a child molester and not a serial killer
as a human just nearly kills the character all together.
I mean in the original series he was originally
supposed to be a child molester but was change
to a child murderer to avoid a high cases
of child molestation that was going on at the time
in California in the 80s and still is to this day.
But you can't help but notice certain hints
in the original series that he might of been a
other than just a murderer. Which is smart in my opinion
they didn't have to say he was a molester cause
we get the idea he slaughtered kids.

Sure a child molester is so disgusting and horrible
but a child murderer I think was scarier just the
fact that this man was murdering innocent kids
and taking away their future is probably the most
*beep* up thing you could ever imagine.
Unfortunately that's what happens a lot in real life
and that is scary.

was one of the best scenes in the film actually. i always found that part incredibly creeper when i was a kid.

i cant believe the glove was given absolutely no context or explanation in this film. i didnt even notice until i read this thread. obviously as a longtime fan i already know about the glove and why he has it, but for someone coming to this franchise for the first time...a new fan or young person who never watched the originals, this really is bizarre to leave out.

terrile film. at least the friday the 13th remake gave context to the hockey mask.

I just posted about how changing Freddy to a molester ruined the movie. One reason was the glove but apparently I was too light on it!
I haven't seen the film in years and just assumed there was more of the glove pre-Freddy's death that I had forgotten. I only remembered the scratches on the girl. I didn't know that was the only establishment of the thing!

I guess my statement of "he uses the glove...somewhat" in my thread was a little too lenient.
