Ok, the David Melmont character was the rapist with syphilis and was responsible for spreading the infection that was killing Cornelia and killed her son. So, who exactly was the ugly guy also with syphilis on the horse with the Gatlin gun? Wasn't he Melmont's number two and if so, was it ever explained how was also with apparent syphilis? I'm assuming Melmont's number two was also a rapist and was infected by Melmont when both were committing crimes.

That was McClintock, who was one of the soldiers who participated in the massacre. He, too, would have contracted syphilis afterwards at the house of ill repute.

have not watched the whole thing strange way they set up the dialogue seems off for time period but it does keep you interested enough to finish it maybe if you rewatch it might make more sense
