The Title 'All Good Things'

All Good Things was the name of the health food store that David and Katie ran in Vermont for a brief while when they were happy. But why was the movie named after it? How is it significant? I can't figure it out...

Good question. Here's what I get out of it:

I think it was ironic. There was not much good in the movie, and the name of the store was emblematic of the last good time for David and Katie, when they had hope and positive energy in their lives, before it all turned to crap when they returned to the father's fold. So it (the store name and the film title) symbolizes a dividing line between health and sickness.

All good things must come to an end.

The OP is a real Kirsten Dunce

I thought it was obvious if you finish the quote "all good things must come to an end". Things must have been good between Katie & David for her to marry him. But they come to an end after that when he becomes abusive & ends up killing her.

Could mean "all good things must end," as some posters have suggested. And boy, didn't the good things come to an end in this movie.

Could also signify the name of their health food store...that's when they were happy and things were going well. Things started going bad when they left "All Good Things." How different their lives would be, if they had stayed in Vermont.

But of course his father was paying for it, so he could call the shots. And if you can't support your own business and it pay for itself, well, it's not really a business, is it? That's a hobby. Still, he could've made an offer to his dad...that they would try the business for 5 years or whatever, and if they couldn't make a go of it, they'd go back to NY. David just caved, the movie made it seem.
