Something not explained

Hey guys,

I just got done watching the movie, and there was something big that they never explained. Correct me if I'm wrong, but throughout the movie, didn't they keep showing scenes of David dragging bags of stuff to the pier, then throwing it in the water? It made it seem like him and his dad were into some really nasty stuff, but it was never explained. Did that confuse anyone else or am I just clueless?

Flash-forwards. That's what the real-life guy on whom David is based did with his neighbor in Galveston. Here's a recent piece that makes note of it:

The rest is conjecture. Since Durst's wife's body was never found, that it also landed in water at some point seems a reasonable hypothesis.

"You drank too much!" "That's a thing?"

Ok that's kind of what I was thinking, but wasn't sure. Just wasn't really clear to me that it was flash-forwarding.

I remember the Law and Order two-part episode based on Durst. They changed a lot, as did the movie, but it was recognizable. Actually, the L&O version was better!
