I agree. What could have turned into a hyperbolic Lifetime battered woman story was kept in check by her superb acting. Gosling was great, too, but I truly believed she was feeling real pain. You could just see the end of all her dreams on her face.

She is a good actress but not always in good films.

Kirsten Dunst was amazing in this movie. She has always given solid performances, but she just blew me away with this one. I don't know who won Best Supporting actress that year, but I guarantee that they weren't better than Dunst.

I agree. I can't believe I haven't heard anyone talking about her performance in the film. Just saw it today and she was amazing.
