They didnt show anything but to me it seemed like there was something (sexual?) going on with him and that Jewish lady friend. I know they were just very close friends, but to me it seemed suggestive - like they used to be sexual with each other, or something. Did anybody think that too? was that intentional or am I reading into it?

She referred to Kirsten Dunst's character as a "blonde shiksa." A shiksa is a Yiddish term for a non-Jewish (Gentile or Christian) girl/woman, particularly one who tempts and "steals" a Jewish man. This reference indicated that the friend was Jewish.
