How come orlando bloom looks different than how he does in lord of the rings?

- 10 years older?
- New costumes?
- More consistent use of contact lenses?

Makeup?

I have wondered this myself?? Legolas looks older in these films. But how can that be?? The Hobbit came before LOTR. Too much CGI

The Hobbit came before LOTR.
Sure, the book The Hobbit came first, and there was sixty years between the Battle of Five Armies and Bilbo's farewell party (and another seventeen years until the Council of Elrond in Tolkien's legendarium). That doesn't alter the fact that Bloom is ten years older.

Forget the age and weight and all that stuff you can't avoid. His hair is darker, specifically the roots, in The Hobbit. So he looks different.

He doesn't look older to me just heavier. If he would have lost even just ten pounds he would have looked pretty much the same as in the Lord of the rings. His hair is also completely pulled back here. In many scenes in the lotr his hair is over the sides of his head. But they cake so much makeup on the actors playing elves, skin wise he looks just as young.
