People seem to be fond of the spider scene. I like that, but my favourite moment of the film occurs during the little prequel at the beginning...

When the waitress brings Thorin his meal, he says "Thank you" so gently and graciously. It's almost as if Thorin isn't gruff because he has yet to be tasked with the daunting, stressful quest.

Erebor scene, Bilbo and Smaug have a nice banter for a fair couple of minutes before Smaug senses Dwarves and loses it.

....is it weird that my favorite scenes is Bilbo talking or fighting with a CGI character!!

I think all those years out in the wilderness made him plenty gruff. Especially when you consider the big chip on his shoulder. However, I believe the scene conveyed that he never forgot his manners.

Anyway, I think my favorite scene is the entire finale -- The cat and mouse with the dragon and the dwarves (and hobbit) is very exciting. So many memorable exchanges.

I like your perspective, Jared-09. I should also make a confession, though...

I felt the "Thank you" was a special bit of Richard Armitage himself shining through. That scene provided great context for it.

GTA, I think that was "Richard" also in that scene. I could never imagine Thorin being that polite!!!

It was a cute scene also.
