I would guess a bobcat or cougar, perhaps wounded or distressed.

Well they could have been standing behind or away from the narrator. It could be a prank but it might just be an animal distress call. That's what I'm thinking it is. Just wonder what animal that could be.

I live in Australia and have heard some pretty incredible sounds at night and you don't have to be in the country to hear it. Possums make one of the scariest sounds I've ever heard. I was walking home from a party once at about 3 in the morning when I heard something demonic it sounded like something from The Excorcist it freaked me out so bad that I walked a different way home. Also koalas make some pretty scary sounds, I think that is partly where the "dropbear" story game from.
Com to think about it they should have dine a dropbear episode
