I'm sorry but wedding dresses and belts don't belong together...I don't care how much "bling" you have on your belt, it ruins the look of a wedding dress...I also think that the wedding dresses all tend to look alike once the damn belt is added...and why must everything be sleeveless? Stop the madness...
I think a belt can give an otherwise gorgeous dress a touch of bling that just finishes it off and makes it perfect. Depends on the dress and the belt.

Well, interestingly, that pic pops up all over the net (it's by Amsale, 2001), but the actual front remains a mystery. I imagine it's perfectly plain and cut straight across...not even in a curved sweetheart. Very classic, kind of 1940's feel.
I found this about it:
The Dress: A343 (a.k.a. "The Blue Sash Dress") by Amsale
Looking back, it's pretty clear that the craze began when Amsale tied a long, dramatic length of blue taffeta around one of her early duchesse satin styles. The popularity of this look inspired brides to incorporate a bit of color into their gowns, and they embraced the endless possibilities of doing so; requests for blue (or pink or green) sashes came in from all directions. Other bridal designers jumped on this trend, debuting sash designs for both brides and bridesmaids at every price point.
Alfred Angelo does a lot of dresses with colored trim--a sash and/or color down the back and in the train. Two of my husband's cousins (both of whom live in the Johnstown, PA, area) wore Alfred Angelo at their weddings, both with red.

Plus I think when a woman buys a dress and make tonnes of alterations (like maybe adding/getting rid of cap sleeves, removing part of the train, putting on embellishments) it makes me wonder why they're buying it? If you have to make so many changes then the dress isn't for you...
Actually, beaded belts or sequined belts look amazing on wedding dresses. I got my dress and loved it but I also got a sequined belt for my dress which made it look incredible. I got tons of compliments on my dress the night of my wedding....
