So much negativity...

I'm a Star Wars fan first and foremost!
I grew up on it. It was the first film (A New Hope) I ever saw.
In the 80's, when Dune came out and all the D&D nerds went crazy for it, I struggled to understand. I would lash out because of this... insulting those fans.... calling them dorks.... and I'd have help from OTHER Star Wars fans....

Never did I try to understand the story, nor was I compelled to do so... "corny" was the best descriptor after the Lynch attempt... I love Lynch, but he was not the right "eye" for this story.

And Denis V.... well, Bladerunner 2049 sucked moose scrotum! I mean, it was BEAUTIFUL and IMMERSIVE as frak, but what for?! What was the damn point?!

So coming into this version of Dune I was not enthused, but willing to give it a chance. Oscar, Jason, Brolin, Drax, Skaarsgaard.... it goes on and on, the reasons for me wanting this to be good. I was ready!

And it was nothing like I thought and I loved it more and more with each scene that unfolded!

The Hans Zimmer soundtrack!!!! New and amazing!

And a heavy anticipation for the next part of the story!

So why the hate?!

So many folks just so willing to show off their vile hatred of something... HATE is not a good look, people! Especially when you are in the WROOOOOOOOOONG!

This movie was fkn awesome!

YEs, cos I was a dumb kid. My point being, is that all there is in here?! Was better before.... when it was IMDB... and moderated a heck of a whole lot less!!! Still better... cos now it's like nothing but pissing contests... I'd rather talk about shit like "wtf do the Fremen EAT?!?!?!" But who can do that when there's post after post about how this version "sucks"?!

Honestly, without THIS VERSION, i'd not give two fraks!!!!

sadly this is true.. i also noticed how more and more people are incapable to give truly fair criticism or praise to a movie and they are also incapable to rate a movie based on it's true merits. Now ppl are abusing IMDb rating system by making it into a contest between 10 stars vs. 1 star or shit like ''us vs. them'' BS.
Its less talk about little things ppl noticed in a movies and start conversation about it. Like what you said; "wtf do the Fremen EAT?'' and ppl would start topic about it.. :)
I hope people would appreciate movies again for what they are and see them again as entertainment.

IMDB had it down, but they lost a handle on the forums... especially when it came to that chump... you know the one...
I digress...

When they stopped, it was not a good time in there.... clicks who'd mass report posters for their opinions, and folks who did not understand the difference between a joke and an outright insult! And it felt like, to me at least, that imdb just got tired of it and shut it down...

I thank whoever is behind this place because they are trying... but the posts... it's like gibberish... i never saw imdb like that. But that's the trade-off, i guess. At least we have a place to yap, huh?!

I liked it too. Not the best film ever but I thought the acting, the cinematography and the action was great. The sand worm scenes alone were worth my time.

first and foremost, and I can't ever emphasize this enough to all....

"Everyone is allowed to enjoy whatever it is they enjoy."

and everyone can have differing tastes. we'd all be so bland if we all liked exactly the same things. :)
I barely made it 20 minutes into this Dune and gave up. There was nothing in it that made me interested in watching it, and many things that I did not care for. Was never a huge fan of Dune84, but I think I like it more now after seeing part of the new one.

I, too, thought BR2049 sucked so bad, I've never watched it twice. I've seen BR maybe 30 times by now.
So, yeah, everyone can like and enjoy what they like and enjoy.
Not big on hating something but this Dune felt cheap and bland to me. Just my humble opinion, about my likes.

BR 2049 deserves that hate..

ryan guzzling deserves it...

But not DUNE.

I was so moved by it, I cannot even begin to comprehend how someone might NOT like it...
