I have an idea, why don't we just appeal for a sequel that shows her slaughtering all annoying children?

Hmm.. she could have died, though. Esther was a little too aggressive. She needs to find a way to get back at people without nearly killing them.

"she could have died"
By killing them? That's beyond sick.
shareShe would grow up as a spoiled brat bullying less fortunate kids for their clothes, for the hair w/e..
And she would get everything her precious heard desired handed to her.
Everyone would tell here she would be so special, funny and interesting only because she would be popular and/or hot.
But when her looks would start to fade, or no one would be interested in her anymore she would be as useful as a used condom..
So yes, by killing them..
It's always better to kill the evil before it spawns..
Don't you watch horror movies..?
"Gar nicht so übel, du kleine Schlampe. Man sieht sich immer zweimal, Kleine."
I really hope you're not serious, talking about real children in real life.
shareI'm dead serious.. I can't stand those little punks..
Just those annoying punks in TV-programs like Supernanny (2004), Nanny 911 (2004)..
I realize it's often the parent's fault of spoiling their kids too much, but sometimes I'm just glad those punks aren't in my neigborhood..
I'd probably get a baseball bat and smash their skull in..

Kate wasn't an idiot, and figured out pretty quickly that Esther was not a good girl. I loved that Kate wasn't an idiot. Too many Horror movies have the parent(s) being complete idiots, it was refreshing to see a smart mother.
This little girl just confessed to killing a little boy, and she wants to play. She is the Devil!
^Actually, IMO Kate was a bit paranoid. It just seemed like Kate jumped on Esther's lie about not being able to play the piano and REALLY railroaded her about that throughout the rest of the movie; essentially, the rest of the evidence Kate finds regarding Esther was based on that one scene (that could have been the hallmark of a killer or an attempt by a little girl to bond with her new mother). It was just lucky that Esther actually was more than she seemed and not an innocent girl about to be persecuted by her new mother.
shareI don't think so. Keep in mind how much of communication is non verbal and things we pick on. At the beginning Esther was "on", spreading charm all around her, connecting and bonding with both of them. But pretty much from the "F bomb" moment on, Esther decided no longer to give a *beep* about Kate and to kick her out of the picture. Actually, for Esther it was especially triggered by seeing Kate having sex and jealousy, although she only charmed Kate in the first place to get adopted.
She decided to turn it off now, and Kate felt it big time.
Kate was taken by Esther at first, but their bond had no depth, it was superficial and very easy to change. She didn't fundamentally know Esther, so it was enough to see a different face of her for the whole image to get distorted.
That *beep* thing, the way she said things, way she talked, way she clearly talked down to Kate, and then the whole piano thing and what she said to her about her kids, it all showed a mean and callous face. It was enough to fall out of love.
And especially because she was lonely in seeing that, it only made Kate more paranoid and more defensive (so more interested in making a point that Esther was not right.)
The actual problem is that these two people adopted a kid on a whim before spending more time with her and look into her past, that they didn't instantly keep a therapist involved. They just met her, liked her, and finalized the deal.
