Wouldn't Esther have periods?
Or would the condition she suffers from mean that she wouldn't have them like a normal woman? Just a thought that went through my mind

Most likely she would, which would be hidden with not too much difficulty, especially since they'd probably be light.
shareEsther's back story (which was cut from the movie) explains how her father molested and abused her ever since she was a baby which caused her to become incapable of having children
shareit's pretty easy to hide when you're on your period.

them haterz cant tell me nothin
Many people don't get their periods if they are very light. She was probably under 90 pounds and therefore didn't get them, or at least not too often. I have a friend who is 90 pounds because of a disease she has and she maybe gets them twice a year because of her weight.

Do not pity the dead, Harry. Pity the living. And above all, pity those who live without love.
That's actually ridiculous. I am below 90 lbs and I get them every month.
shareThat makes you the exception, not the rule. Most who are underweight have periods very rarely. Also, adding in the medical condition, it's likely she'd need hormone medication to cause these issues. So it's entirely possible she'd not have to beg Kate for tampons.

It's not usually weight that causes you not to have periods. Malnutrition and deficiencies would cause it but just being smaller and thin frame doesn't make you lose your ability to menstruate.
That's not true, were exactly did You get Your facts from? I am around plenty of under weight women who get there periods on a monthly bases.
shareWould it matter if she had them or not? As unusual as it can be, some girls can start menstruating as young as nine years old. It's indicated from the beginning that she is more 'mature' than others of her age. Having started menstruating at nine could even be excused as possibly genetic (she's from Russia, so there wouldn't be a reason to hide that she was having her period.
shareTHIS plus, as others pointed out, Esther was very petite and generally the lower your body fat, the lighter your period (unless you have fibroids or something). Esther was probably very light, if she got periods at all.
shareIf it's Turner's syndrome she has, most likely she wouldn't have periods. The ovaries of women with TS are undeveloped . Some do go on female hormones around the time of puberty, but not sure Esther would have had access to those.
shareThe percentage of a woman's body fat can affect ovulation. The cutoff may be 13%

Why does this question get asked so often? I'd like to think that most men aren't this ignorant about periods.
It's real easy to hide being on your period. If it's light enough you can just use toilet paper. If she was ever found out, well, some 9 year olds do already get periods.

I'm not a medical doctor, but according to the Wikipedia article https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypopituitarism, hypopituarism, Esther's condition, supposedly can cause irregular, abnormal or absent menstruation.
