I didn't understand this film at all. spoilers

So Angela was just evil? She was Sandy's friend as a kid, but just decided to join evil instead when she got older?
What did Sandy do that was so bad? She ran when her friend had a seizure? That's bad, but surely not bad enough to spurn all this???

What were all her friends dying about? Was none of that scenario real?
Why did her parents tell the doctor she 'had no friends'?
So Angela wakes from the coma, and Sandy is in one? Angela got revenge?

This film confused the crap out of me!

This movie can be interpreted in many different ways:

1. Angela got her revenge by being scared into her coma by "erasing" Sandy's friends, and making Sandy take her place.

2. Sandy was crazy the whole time. She never had any friends, as her parents said, and she made the whole thing up.

3. As an alegorical lesson. Sandy is symbolic of some young people who leave their true friends behind in order to be popular, even to the point of bullying former friends. In the end, it is Sandy's conscience who is torturing her, in the same disguises her friends were wearing.

Her parents said that Sandy didn't have any friends because all of her friends, and her brother, had been erased. No one had any memory of them except for Sandy.
