This movie was awesomely bad [spoilers, duh]

I've watched all three Librarians and they've all been awesomely bad. Cheese-tastic, even. But still entertaining, which is a good thing.

This one had its moments, notably the dust-fight between the big bad and the good girl, the opening sword fight, and some of Flynn's dialogue, but mainly it's awesome because it revels in its own badness.

I hope TNT keeps making these. Seriously.

Agree...It's obviously not supposed to be taken seriously like Indiana Jones is. This is a fun little farce and the director and writers know it. And, the funny thing is that...IT WORKS! Which is rare for tv movies like this.

reply

Totally agree. I hope they make a couple more of these.

reply

I agree. Definitely a guilty pleasure for me.
There are better films out there, but this one is so... I dunno how to describe it any better than awesomely bad.

And I loved the sword fight. It was Princess-Bride-esque, but considerably more ridiculous. (I'm also biased because I know Joe Knezevich :P)

You may feel like a poet, but you sound like an idiot.

It was actually quite good by comparison to the Indiana Jones films, given they were produced on a grand scale, while this film was produced on a considerably lower budget for cable network. It's funny how often the internet trolls ignore such points.

Internet arguing is like running in Special Olympics; even if you win, you look retarded

reply

While that is true, also realize that Indiana Jones was produced on a grand scale...almost 30 years ago...when production was not nearly as impressive. So you have to ask yourself which is better...30 years ago big budget or now low budget.

reply

exactly. i cant say this movie is gold but it doesnt try to be either. its absurd. its fun. its a nice mindless romp with a huge emphasis on humor. it even takes a few jabs at the conveniences of modern adventure films but it does so in its rather uniquely absurd fashion.

LOL
Totally agree, there is no better way of describing these movies, awesomely bad. =)

I've watched them with some little cousins of mine, and they love, and I enjoy them, despite the ridiculous plots, amazing amount of plot holes, bad effects etc etc. Somehow it works, since the movies don't take themselfs seriously at all, and I don't mean in a spoofkind of way, like say the Naked Gun.

Love the one I just watched (The Judas Chalice) and thought it was very well done. Even being cheesy, it didn't detract from the movie's entertainment value and I laughed frequently throughout the movie. Great characters, great locations, and acting (even if it was cheesy in places) and wow, Stana Katic. Where has she been? Amazing.

I thought the move was going to be bad and it turned out surprisingly good. Best of the five we rented: (out of Against the Dark, Retrograde, Quarantine, and Appaloosa).

As a person who was fortunate enough to be cast in the movie, I am enjoying the different posts. I was also happy to see that it was well-received ratings-wise. As for Stana Katic, I could not agree with you more. It was a great pleasure to share the make-up trailer with her as she sang the aforementioned song from the bar scene. A beautiful woman and a great talent. I hope that everyone is catching her on the new ABC show "Castle".
