Are you people serious?

This movie is great. Best thriller in a long time. The acting is great too.

What acting? If you mean Ewan McGregor looking dumb and acting dumb for the whole movie until the big reveal, then yeah I guess Oscar worthy. Besides that, what was there?

I just have a hard time liking movies that are so obvious when they are trying to be subtle that you figure out what's going on an hour before the character does, and have to suffer through an hour of nothingness while the character is trying to piece out the solution to a puzzle a 10 year old would have solved already.

Wow, you're smart. How did you figure... How did you figure what out?

As a matter of fact, that „dumb“ acting earned him the European Film Award as Best Actor, so there are obviously a lot of people who disagree with you.

Agreed. The Ghost has become one of favorite thrillers of recent years, a great movie.

What "you people" are you talking about? It seems a lot of folks like this film. It was an intriguing thriller with a strong cast and some genuinely shocks. I gave it 8/10.

I know what you mean; it's a great movie. I thought the filming locations were great. And that house!

reply

I've seen this movie twice and even though I think is an "interesting" movie, something quite doesn't fit for me and doesn't allow me to fully enjoy it, and I think is the acting, they are all act terrible except the prime minister wife.

Nice house. Sorta nice location (wrong time of year I guess). Acting? Just awful. Even Wilkinson, who is usually better than average. The politics was also obtuse. I know they were trying to make some political point, but it was all rather childishly done. It was also rather obviously a BMW commercial more than it was of anything of substance.

I gave it a 2. For the house.

It's classic noir so effortless, people don't realize that's what it is.

Just because a hero is a naïf (the Ghost versus Jake Gittes) doesn't make his increasing isolation, personal peril, or courage less compelling.

The Ghost solves an incredibly complex mystery. For those who say the CIA would never allow a situation to develop where a naïve ghost-writer would unmask one of their own: you forget that Adam Lang's wife is nuts. She's in control of the house from the minute the Ghost arrives, busy ripping her hubby a new one; and everyone's afraid of her. The only reason she's not immediately afraid of the Ghost is because he's a simple man, and to the extent that he does unmask her, he outwits her.

Just because a hero isn't complex doesn't make him any less a hero.
