All of these new POTApes movies are too depressing

There's always a misunderstanding; or an evil human or ape who kills someone/ape from the other side, and then the 'good' people/apes are forced/tricked into a confrontation which they don't want...etc.
Contrived and predictable and sad and depressing.

The original POTA movies from '68 onward were depressing too. Having a dark, bleak ending is one of the hallmarks of the series. Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973) NOT having a bleak, dark ending was a definite weak point for me.
