Whiskey: who was she?

Did Topher know Whiskey before she was a doll? Is that why he programmed her to hate him?

And does her true identity play into that episode where Topher imprinted Sierra with a "buddy" for him to hang out with, that only happens once a year? was that imprint a copy of Whiskey's personalty before she became a doll?

Like know her personally? Doubtful. The only one he's seen meeting is Pryia.

He didn't program her to hate him. He specifically says so. She chose that on her own.

No. No way Dewitt would let him use a doll's real personality. They're supposed to be locked away until their contract is up.

Can't stop the signal.

I think he did know her. I have wondered if she was his sister or something and got into trouble with hacking (she mentions she has too many computer skills for an MD..maybe those are her original skills?). Topher gets freaked out when Saunders comes on to him and at one point he tells her "she's better than that" as if he knows the real her.

It might explain why they fixed Victor's face, but not Saunders. She was their number 1 doll and of as much value as Victor...so if there wasn't something special about her they would have fixed her scars too. She might be leverage over Topher.

To me this is one of the biggest Dollhouse mysteries.

Adelle was sleeping with Victor, he was one of her favorites. But as a doll, surely they would need to fix Whiskey's face before her contract was up. Maybe they were just putting off vetting a new doctor?

In reality, there is no way to fix scars like that. They can be minimized a little, but they'll still be there. It's just not possible to undo the trauma to the tissue.

Maybe they were simply being realistic about it. That might be a little weird for this show, but I don't think it's completely out of the question.

Realistic for Whiskey, but not Victor?

The last time we saw Whiskey in Epitaph 1, she didn't have the scars. Somewhere along the way, by the time those in the dollhouse were headed out to Safe Haven, Whisky's scars had been healed. Echo asked her about it, but Dr.Saunders only said that it was a long story.

But it still leaves the question as to why they waited, even while Whiskey was programmed to be Dr.Saunders.

reply

Oh yeah I forgot about her scarless appearance in Epitaph 1.

Well, that answers the question then, I think. They did get fixed at some point.

She didn't need to be beautiful to be the doctor.

She didn't want her scars fixed because then she would become a doll again, and in effect "Claire Saunders" would die.

I wish they could have kept Acker on the show for longer, they could have gone into some really interesting identity stuff with her character.

In season 2 Whiskey tries to seduce Topher I think to try messing with his head for a change (I love the line about Fozzy Bear). Topher explains that when he was creating "Dr. Saunders 2.0-AKA Whisky" He made her question him, challange his conclusions so that nothing would be missed. He says that she "chose" to hate him.

I never got the idea Topher knew Whiskey before.
I think Topher knew Priya (Sierra) through Creepy Kenard before (maybe just hours) before she became an active. Topher thought he was "helping" Sierra. He seemed to really like Sierra. He always chooses her first and picks her for his B-day "diagnostic" which is playing video games, eating junk food and laser tag

Topher believed he was "curing" a mood disorder that Priya had. Actually before the Dollhouse, Kenard was drugging Sierra to mimic schizophrenia. Just being away from Kenard cleared up Sierra's schizophrenia symptoms because Kenard couldn't drug her in the Dollhouse. Kendal =JERK!

I don't think so, although you and the other posters have brought up some interesting theories to consider.
