If dolls were supposed to be beautiful...

why the hell did they cast Alan Tudyk as Alpha? He's uglier than the east end of a horse headed west.

reply

Looks aren't as important for male Dolls as they are for female Dolls. Remember that many of the engagements require physical skills. They show has mentioned that some Dolls are more valuable than others. Those with less looks would be less valuable but still useful.

I've always found Alan Tudyk quite nice to look at.

Poem...because "Wash" is his Firefly character name.

I've been in love with Alan Tudyk since A Knight's Tale. You can't downplay intelligence, and smart is always sexy. When I see his name on a cast list, I am sure to watch the show or movie he's in, no matter who else might be in it. He is HOT, and it's not because has any kind of special look that the world might consider beauty, but because he uses what he has to such advantage.

Ahaha, same here. But he first caught my attention in 28 Days. He is hilarious in it and completely steals every scene he is in.

A little off topic, but I just saw him in Tucker and Dale vs. Evil. It's one of those comedy/horror hybrids and while it's not great movie making, it is entertaining and Alan is hilarious. But be warned, it's not for the squeamish.

I was just thinking I would have to watch that now that I knew Alan was in it! ha!! I'm not squeamish, but also not a huge fan of the horror genre.

It's not a real horror movie. It's more a comedy of misunderstandings. I don't want to give away too much because not knowing what's happening if part of the fun.
I'd love to hear what you think about it after you see it.

I look forward to it. I think you'll find it a fun movie.

According to you....I actually find Alan Tudyk quite hot. Everyone's preferences are different. Look at the other dolls....I find Echo cute where Sierra nor Mellie would be my type. Mike looked like a nerd while Victor was cute in a shy way. All their clients likely have different taste.

A big part of it is also how Alan carried himself.

For most of the episode, he's the goofy comic relief Alan we'ven know in most of his roles.

But after the reveal that he's Alpha, it's a completely different look. He's standing up straight. There's a confidence and menace in his movements. And suddenly, his muscles are noticeable. Much more attractive.

Straightedge means I'm better than you.

Yeah, notice they had him wear a woolen poncho until the dollhouse when for some reason ballard decided he needed to change clothes, lol. NO ONE WILL NOTICE ME IN MY BULKY MILITARY SURPLUS JACKET IF I HAVE A GUY IN A HANES TEE BEHIND ME

What a lovely way to burn...

Well in reality, not all of the actives are "beautiful" I mean aside from Elisa and Amy, the rest of the cast was average at best. That asian chick that was supposed to be someone's obsession and Victor's love interest, was actually not hot at all. I mean, she did had some qualities like been in shape and having flawless skin, but other than that she was not a knock out at all.

I think its their imprinted personalities and the way they dress that would make the active, someone's obsession.

The guy that plays Alpha is actually not very good looking; however, he does possessed some qualities that might make him a sex object. First of all he was in very good shape. He had big muscles which the majority of women find attractive. He didn't appear to have any visible scars anywhere. Overall, with the right clothes and personality he could be a "beautiful" man.

Now back to the Dollhouse story, he was actually taken from prison. I think he was supposedly taken from jail to serve his sentence as an active. Which in reality it's completely stupid because the point of jail is for them to reflect on what they did and acknowledge that they're stuck in a box for a period of time as a "time out" for their crime. Him been an active will only make him feel like he was in jail for a number of days or so.

It all comes down to beauty being in the eye of the beholder and all that jazz. For example, I think that Dichen Lachman is gorgeous. While not conventionally beautiful, her face (for lack of better phrasing) is interesting to look at and she's attractive in her own way. I also find Alan Tudyk to be

I also think Alan Tudyk's incredibly sexy, but maybe that's more to do with the way he carries himself. He has a goofy charm that I find attractive

Just over 2 years later...Was he really taken from prison and or if was, could he have been set up, as think I remember them talking about it and was questionable whether it was truth, just like the Priya/Sierra, as she was put in the whole mess because of someone who was a stalker and obsessed with her. Will have to re watch again but the last season epi, when all above ground will be getting back their real lives, he went away on his own to be separated from all as he was not sure of anything and what was truth or lies. So when done, will try to remember to update with either I was wrong, or what I remember was right or somewhat right.

No. There was nothing to indicate he was set up, nor was there any talk about it. He was tried and convicted by testimony from the woman he had attacked.

At the end, Alpha goes away, not because he's not sure what the truth is, but because he thinks he might revert back to his former potential serial killer self.

Can't stop the signal.

Maybe it's my ginger roots, but Alan Tudyk does it for me in a maaaaajor way.

Currently re-watching: Buffy, Dollhouse, Firefly
