At the end of the episode where Victor was a serial killer, and Echo was a college slut, the real killer lays in a coma

Ballard asks Adele something like will he ever wake up, and Adele replies,
Wouldn't it be nice if he didn't.

Then, Echo walks in and says something like, Is he dreaming?
Ballard replies, Not any more. Then the monitor flat-lines.

Did Ballard pull the plug on Terry Carrens?

<apologies for my laziness in not looking up the actual dialogue, I hope I got my point across>

This seems to be what happened, but it sure seems out of character for Ballard.

Opinions, anyone?

To clarify, I think Ballard did it just BEFORE Echo walked into the room. Curious to see what you think, I know you are a big fan, and knowledgeable about the show..

It's strange, but I always interpreted it as Paul saying, "Not anymore" because there is no one left inside of Terry's head.

However, it does look like Paul might have killed him. And it does sound like there's a flatline at the end. Even the script agrees with you:

"PAUL: Not anymore.

The body in the room almost seems to be SIGHING as it exhales one.. last... time."

So there does seem to be a strong case for Paul killing him.

The only thing I can think of that's against is that the heart rate monitor isn't beeping throughout the previous scene and doesn't even seem to be plugged in at all.

yes, my opinion does not really include the 'visual' on the monitor It was rather non-specific. I was mainly basing my view upon the sound of the flat-line.

It really doesn't seem OOC for Ballard. He sits there assaulting people in S1 that irritate him, including his FBI coworker and that tech guy he took the bug he found to. He's a grade A hypocrite in the things he does, so it wouldn't surprise me if he pulled the plug on a dangerous man. IT'd be the least of his sins on the show.

All good points, yet I have to say, there's a big difference between rough-housing someone, and actual murder.

On a side note, I LOVED Mark Shepard's role as the other FBI agent, as much I loved him in Firefly, as Badger. The man is a great actor!

Mark Shepard was really good in Doctor Who, too. And they had his father play his character as an old man later in the series.

I've never really been into Dr. Who, but I may have to re-visit that now.

Another family matter: When Victor was battling himself in the 'Attic' episode, it was actually his identical twin brother that they hired for the part. A piece of trivia that you might like. :)

I've never really been into Dr. Who, but I may have to re-visit that now.

I've forgotten which season it was, but it was one of the seasons with Matt Smith as The Doctor and Karen Gillan as one of the companions.
