Lone diamond in the cup of espresso?
What ideas do people have re:
1) What was the point/reason for the presence of the diamond?
2) Where did it end up going?

I think it was just to alert him that his next contact was coming, like the bread hanging on the door.
shareSo, did he get to keep that lone diamond as a pay bonus?
shareHe left it as a tip.;-)
Seriously, my interpretation was that it was a message sent from those "in control", as he found the nude Italian woman dead. The same ones who took away the blonde (in a 'rendition' style kidnapping). And the same ones guarding the 'fortress' supposedly protecting the white male American. That's my two cents. Cheers~!
Multiple viewings are valuable to understanding (misunderstanding) this movie…
The only time we see diamonds are when he delivers some to Nude.
He gets what sounds like a warning from Molecules about someone not “among us”.
He finds the diamond in his espresso at a café, but we aren’t shown what he does with it, we only hear the spoon clatter back down.
As he’s leaving the café he stops at the coat rack, notices and stares at Nudes see-thru raincoat hanging up there.
Later he finds Nude dead.
IMO the diamond in the espresso was a message from his “side” that Nude had been “dumped”, “drowned”, “discarded”, or something not good. Seeing her raincoat there also confirmed to him that she had been there. Later, when he found her dead only verified to him that she’d been dealt with by his “side” and not the MIB “side”.
So the diamond was sent so he wouldn’t be surprised later when he found her dead. And, no, I don’t know why she was found dead in his bed, unless she had been following him and got caught and killed there… maybe while waiting for him.
