I enjoyed the film
very much. Aside from Tilda Swanson's character. I never seem to really like her characters.
I can see why people dislike it, though.

I also really enjoyed this film. I dreaded seeing it due to the huge number of bad reviews, but was very surprised to be enthralled. I totally understand why someone might hate it, but I just love how much it managed to surprise me, Jarmusch managed to go against conventional cinematic techniques - sometimes the soundtrack or the cinematography just seemed totally out of place - but it totally worked
shareCan you elaborate? I never really had the impression that anything felt out of place, not even in a good way :)
I totally agree with The_Black_Rider though. I can see people disliking the film because they don't enjoy the slow pacing, they don't like its minimalist style or whatever - but those who get all condescending and can't even accept that other people love it, are those sad people who obviously cannot cope with anything that's a little different to every other movie out there.
I think that's another part of how it is a hommage to classic Hollywood cinema: you can feel that a lot of care went into every scene, and it is all about atmosphere, immersion, and mystery, and it even tries a new thing or two. Too many audiences today require a shootout at least every 10 minutes and a CGI ratio of 80% to even keep watching a film.
By the way, I loved Swinton's character, it's my favourite. I must admit I've never even seen her in a film before. I don't know if one can even call it a character, but I like the way she behaves, how she talks and what she talks about... and why on Earth might she have been on that poster?
I enjoyed it also as
long as the naked girl
was there!
When she wasn't there...
not so much!
