That's a great line from de Bankole and I came here to post about his performance - he was acting by not acting, if that makes any sense. As part of my work I have to try and maintain what I guess would best be described as a 'blank' presence and it's very hard because I want to make all sorts of facial and bodily gestures and noises. The sorts of things that are commonplace in any interaction and that mostly people are not conscious of. De Bankole just sits, quite still and expressionless, mute, for most of the film and not once does anything flicker to spoil his presence. It's pretty powerful and on my first viewing of the film I was underwhelmed, but when I rewatched and recalled how hard I find it to be that still and present I realised what a feat of acting he achieved.
The universe has no centre and no edges. Reality is arbitrary.
