I just watched it and I have to say that I loved it. It was not your typical run of the mill heist film. It had twists, turns, and an interesting plot. Not to mention the cast was hot! The writing was pretty phenomenal as well. I don't know why people are hating on this movie and on the cast so much... HATERS!!!
Besides the fact that the cast was hot, I liked the action and how the cop (Matt Dillon's character) pieced together the puzzle. People are too nit-picky. Everyone is an amateur movie critic and most of them could not act in, write, or direct a movie any better.
I really liked the movie. Of course it is playing in the 'sandbox' that 'Heat' perfected but it did a very good job. I for one will be picking this one up on Blu-ray when it comes out.
Matt Dillons character has to be the worst cop on movies. He failed at everything he did in the movie, he even blew his daughter off.
Ghost: We all knew Ghost was going to stab them in the back from the beginning. DUH
Chris Browns spiderman stunts really came out of nowhere and were ridiculous.
His brother was a pu$$y! His gf just got killed, he holds her in his arms saying: "I'm going to kill you Ghost." Next scene, he's decides to kill himself. EPIC FAIL
Haydens character acting like a hero in a gunfight that DID NOT require his martyr assistance. First fool to get killed just because.
Carvers sister almost gave me a heartattack at the end when she pops out of the backseat of the car. Ugly mofo who fails at getting herself together.
Well it's obvious the OP is biased IN favor of the film because she thinks the cast is hot and that is fine but since i am a guy and i am not a hater of the cast i think in all honesty the film is just OK. (i seen a total of around 1300 movies to)
i gave 'Takers' a 6/10. it was OK for a single viewing but ultimately not a film i would care to see again which pretty much means i give it a Thumbs Down at the end of the day. (generally speaking... 6/10 or lower = Thumbs Down. 7/10 or higher = Thumbs Up)
the only real weak link in the film as far as acting went was Chris Brown but even he was nothing horrible. (surely no where near enough to effect my overall rating of the film one way or the other)
but it does appear that the 2 most common votes are either a 1/10 or 10/10 which is not to rational because if you look at vote details about 40percent of the votes went with either a 1/10 or 10/10 which it's pretty obvious this film is neither regardless if you liked the film more or less than i did.
so it looks like i am in line with the majority of rational voters as i to gave it a 6/10. because a 6/10 and 7/10 are the most common votes when you get rid of the extreme voters. 6 and 7 is tied but after my vote is counted (as i just finished seeing it) 6 will be ahead of 7.
but so far i seen 32 films in 2010 at the time i type this message i would say Takers is somewhere between 22-29 (probably between 22nd and 26th though) out of the 32 total films i seen (with 1 being best and 32 being worst). but basically out of the 32 total i seen at the time i type this message i gave 17 the Thumbs Up and 15 the Thumbs Down.
p.s. just even comparing Takers to other Paul Walkers films i would take most of the films he was in over Takers personally especially Fast & Furious series (a solid 7/10 on the whole. maybe a 7.5) and 'Running Scared' (10/10) which is a great film. but even besides those two a good percentage of the films he was in are better than Takers if you ask me. but basically i would take other Paul Walker films over this (besides the obvious ones i mentioned) like... Varsity Blues/Into The Blue/The Death And Life of Bobby Z/The Lazarus Project (all of those i gave a 7/10). hell, even Hayden Christensen wise i liked his 'Awake' (2007) which i gave a 7/10.
on a side note... my current Top3 films of 2010 are... 1)Edge of Darkness (9/10). 2)Kick-Ass (8/10). 3)The American (8/10). (but i got high hopes for 'True Grit' which is due out Dec 22nd and i still have yet to see 'The Town' which i think has potential)
In reality I liked it. Not the best film, not even close to being that good in all, but it is an enjoyable film. The thing is it ended right then and there which made it seems pointless, but everything else left me wanting more.
