I really hate it when they bring in completely unrelated celebs for these things. Beckham's a soccer player and Gaga tried to present herself as edgy. Friends was always very mainstream.

i heard about the "guests" and thought i ain't watching this garbage.

good for the cast though.. each got 2.5 mil i believe

reply

That is so obscene!

reply

i remember a few years back Matthew Perry was asked by Graham Norton about a possible reunion.
Perry was like heck no, never, never in a million years.. i thought good on him!

LOL
guess a truck full of money can change your mind real quick..

reply

He was probably referring to a legit reunion, like a new series, not just an interview, in defense of Perry.

reply

Agreed.

The best stuff was the rebuilding of the sets, and especially the interviews with the producers.

I'd have really liked more insightful, individual interviews with each actor so you learned something new about their life during the show and afterwards.

They're always presented in this slab of six people repeating the same light-hearted anecdotes.

reply

Those are the bits I watched. After the intro and the reunion and the mini documentary with the creators, I felt pretty satisfied and turned it off. Looks like I had a good instinct there.

I actually had to fast forward through the parts with people from other countries. We get it, the show is worldwide and people like it. That's not why I'm watching

I knew this could never be any good, so I’ll never watch it, but the comments here tell me this was REALLY bad—like Chevy Chase talk show-bad, cavity search-bad, tax audit-bad, meeting someone from the MC Politics boards IRL-bad, barfing in your lover’s mouth while Frenching-bad, sitting through the whole of Lost, The X-Files and Twin Peaks and knowing all 3 shows fucked your loyalty-bad. You know: BAD.

I’ve always called it Must-Flee TV.

reply

I enjoyed it a lot, actually.

reply

I in no way begrudge you your pleasure.

reply

And you are in no position to judge considering you haven't watched it.

I thought it was a moving tribute to what was such a huge cultural phenomenon.

reply

Not really, it was a bit crap, some good bits but lots of duff. A missed opportunity to speak to each of them as individuals.

reply

Well, the IMDb rating speaks for itself.

I am not the only viewer who still has a heart.

I would not call it trash, it was just bad, sad and rarely funny.
Anybody not involved with Friends, starting with that fat host, was terrible and should have stayed out.

But I doubt there is any way this could have been great, considering they did not want to add anything to the 10 seasons, so no new scripted action for the characters, and they just wanted to cash in on nostalgia.
Which is a stupid decision since Friends already closed on that note, why repeat it?

I appreciated the bonus footage and backstage trivia.
It was jarring and sad to cut from them now to back on the show, it looked brutal.
These reunions are seldom good, Friends was no exception.

reply

Wow you guys are critical. I would not call it trash. I agree, the celeb cameos were unnecessary as were the fan stories but overall, despite being a bit schmaltzy, it was good. I also, would have liked to have seen a bit more of the recurring characters like Tom Selleck and Janice Wheeler.
