Did you liked it?

Who already watched it? Did you liked it or not?

reply

5/10 for me... watched it once, but probably never again, not because I disliked it, just because there is 'nothing there'.

With James Corden hosting and the couch it felt almost like just another talk show.

I didn't get the point of rebuilding the old sets exactly as they used to be, unnecessary.

reply

James Corden is a fat pussy

reply

Absolutely yes. They totally got the wrong person to host this. THEY should have got Aisha Tyler to host the show, she would have been so great and would've made so much sense, and unlike that guy who is incredibly random; she is a really good host.

Think about this, us fans would have loved this "reunion" so much more had they got Cole Sprouce to host instead because he was on that show all those years ago (fan service) -- such a greatly missed opportunity.

A lot of those surprise guests are great, except for the ones that never have been guests on the actual show, so weird to see them just like the host. They should have gotten more people who were actual guests on the show, such as the 'Ant-Man' Paul Rudd, for you know... (again) fan service. Love that Richard, Jack and Judy Gellar, Mr. Heckles, the Hand Twin guy, Gunther and Janice were part of this, they are awesome to see. 😉😇👍

I definitely rate this reunion 5/10 stars for the imdb page. I feel that this reunion special should have meant so much more. It just wasn't. 😕

So it was more like a cast interview than a friends ep? Sounds dull if that is the case.

reply

Yes, it's a cast interview in front of a small audience (COVID protocols)... and also the (same main) cast reuniting at their old set telling stories, it was a weird structure because both were edited together... it was like host and host-less segments of them just talking about the show, how it came together and favorite moments.

reply

I was never a huge fan of the show but I'd be more interested in seeing what the characters amounted to rather than the actors.

reply

Like how Larry David handled the Seinfeld reunion; we were able to see what the characters were up to almost 10 years after the show ended, with the actors portraying somewhat exaggerated versions of themselves throughout the seventh season of Curb Your Enthusiasm.

This would've been the most sensible approach to the Friends reunion.

reply

Yeah, that was a great way to do it.

I'm not sure how it would work with 'Friends,' though. Nobody who worked on 'Friends' has a 'Curb Your Enthusiasm' style show where all the cast members could come on for a season and do that "reunion show" arc, while playing themselves.

I think 5/10 for me, too. There were a few sweet moments, but most seemed forced.

What I liked:
Matt LeBlanc and David Schwimmer seemed to be having the most fun with it.
The behind the scenes stuff along with the clips from the show.

What I didn't like:
The host.
The creators/producers.
"Celebrities" popping up for no reason.
Obsessed fans.
Courtney Cox seemed to look confused a lot.
Kudrow, Aniston, and Perry looked like they would rather be someplace else, but were doing a favor for friends.
Even though there were laughs (real and fake), the overall tone seemed kind of depressing.

reply

Good review, Aasaid. Thanks. I think I’ll give it a pass. Did Perry seem out of it?

reply

A little, yes. It was kind of sad. It's only been 17 years, but some of the cast seemed older than that. Like they've been through a lot. I'm not mocking them, I feel bad for them.

reply

Yeah, I saw a photo and a few hadn’t aged well, in some cases possibly due to excessive plastic surgery.

reply

Didn't see it but I was under the impression that it was going to be an actual episode of Friends.

If it's just an interview with with the cast I will hard pass on this.

What a disappointment!

reply

I enjoyed it:

I thought it was nice seeing the cast reunite and talk about the show there all most remembered for.

I liked it, it was very heartwarming.

Reading these comments I feel like I am the only one whose heart hasn't turned to stone yet.

I really loved it and got emotional too. I'm a huge fan of Friends and I remember watching the pilot episode when it first aired in the U.K. at 9pm in 1994. I was passing my sister's bedroom and saw her watching TV and I asked what was she watching and she said this new show called Friends. I sat and watched it with her and we were hooked from there and I still watch the reruns today, so this was really special to see.

The only thing I didn't like was James Cordon. Can't stand the man. I agree with @womxn that Aisha Tyler should have hosted it. She's a great host on 'The Boys' aftershow.

reply

I am a big fan of Friends, I have yet to see it but mixed feelings after reading the comments. At least, will go in seeing it with low expectations when it finally airs in my country next month.

reply

I love it too and nearly cried a few times. I thought it was excellent

It was almost 2 hours long, and there were about 30 minutes total that I really liked. And those 30 minutes were scattered all throughout the special. Overall, I thought it was pretty disappointing. My main takeaway from the whole thing was that none of the cast members know the show nearly as well as I do, lol.

reply

I got HBOMax today just to watch it and it was wonderful!!! I have no complaints at all. I hope they release it so I can have a copy of it.
