I like it because.......(spoiler)

....it didn't have a happy ending. I'm glad the world didn't come together, destroy the comet, and live happily ever after with a renewed sense of unity. Seeing the world act they way they did would be pretty accurate, and seeing the Mindy's waiting it out, like the rest of the world, was somewhat sad and chilling. Made me wonder how I'd live my last few weeks/days/hours if I were in that situation.

I am a little surprised that religion didn't play more of a role. There's will always be those who think the comet was sent by god to punish us. Wasted opportunity there.

22,740 years later? We can build something that last that long? Someone could build a ship like that and the world not ever find out? I am sorta curious why 22,740 was chosen as the length of journey for the movie.

I enjoyed the story and the cast.

I do agree that religion probably should have taken on a bigger role. More often than not, when you're about to die, that's when you start believing in god. Could have been a missed opportunity but I don't think the film would have necessarily been better by adding this. I found it to be quite entertaining as is.

I liked it because it's funny and it ties in fairly well to the current political and social climate of the day.

I just saw this movie yesterday for the first time and it has some moments of brilliance. But overall, I think the movie suffers just a bit from being a little over-the-top with the disaster stuff. I would have liked for them to have dragged it out just a little longer before telling everyone what's going to happen.

Still, I liked it. I gotta give it a 7.7 out of 10. This is good stuff, I wouldn't have had any problems with this taking the Oscar for best picture. Although, Drive My Car would have probably been my first choice, but DLU would be on my immediate list for sure. While the eventual winner CODA was a good movie, it was a remake of a french film, it would be hard to go with a remake for BP.
