The critics bashed this......

I heard from many corners, reviews, podcasts and this one took a beating. That it was too heavy-handed, on the nose. The director was too pleased with himself, and he didn't have a deft hand compared to his earlier work.

Personally, I agree. But did the subject matter need a deft hand?

I enjoyed it, about as much as I enjoyed Wag the Dog. That didn't have a deft hand either, and was quite on the nose. Fun nonetheless. Don't look up should be considered a farce, and not hard satire.

Wasn't quite a sharp as The Death of Stalin, and we must agree that the yanks can't quite reach as high in the satire department as the Europeans. Unless we're talking Kubrick. But we all know Kubrick was born, and raised in Chiswick. NY is a typo

Critics were too afraid to admit they liked it, because it exposes the stupidity of the whole society they are supposed to criticize and choose not to.

I can certainly understand such criticism. I thought it was laying it on pretty thick myself. But apparently not thick enough, as there are people on this very board who insist that the movie is making fun of lefties, and that lefties aren't "smart enough" to realise it's not at all about climate denialism - apparently.

It unintentionally mocks politicians like Biden whose every move is political.

There's nothing unintentional about it. And every move of every honest politician is political. It's kind of their job. The alternative is that they make moves that are self-serving, and that's corruption.

It mocks those L.A./New York morning shows that are almost all made up of lefties.

Really? You didn't see Fox and Friends in those parodies?

There's a line in the film about the president saying if people don't want to be poor they should pick better lottery numbers. It reminds some of us of the current transportation sec saying if we just buy electric cars ($$$), we wouldn't have to worry about gas prices.

Those aren't even remotely analogous, so how do you manage to draw that parallell?

It mocks the entertainment industry itself, which is almost all lefty.

It doesn't mock the industry, just the entertainers. But not nearly as much as it mocks those who blindly accept what the president tells them. If you remember, the air-head singer turned out on the correct side.

It mocks social media where twice as many dems use Twitter than republicans.

Only since Trump was kicked out. Have you forgotten that Trump practically lived on Twitter? Most of his public statements were through Twitter, and it wasn't until he was kicked out that his followers started leaving that platform.

Everyone right of Stalin has been banned from Twitter since ~2015. I got banned in 2016 for resharing a funny meme. The site is likely >80% automated content these days.

During election years in my country thousands of accounts would suddenly appear and dominate the conversation supporting the leftist parties. Maybe twitter makes an income of selling this type of 'influence'.

When you claim "everyone right of Stalin" has been banned from Twitter since around 2015 - nevermind the fact that Trump wasn't banned until 2021 - then I think we all know how seriously we should take your opinion.

That went both ways. But you only saw one side of it, because, well, you're pretty biased.

That was an absolute truth, and I meant it to be taken literally.... you people are fuked

It was obvious hyperbole, but it showed your mindset all the same. You clearly think you were unfairly banned, and sound quite bitter about it, but would you mind telling us what meme it was that got you banned?

I could care less, merely stating people were getting purged from twitter before trump. Twitter staff wanted to alter the culture of the website.

Reddit followed a similar path. The billionaire couple (human traffickers) Epstein and Maxwell spend over a decade as the unofficial editors of the Reddit magazine. They established its current culture - An army of perverts grooming teens into taboo sexual fetishes.

Complain all you want, but if you violate their terms of service, don't act surprised when you have to find a different platform to voice your complaints.
