Reality - people listen too much to experts. Governments have locked down their economies and forced experimental, ineffective and dangerous vaccines.
So how does this movie have parallels to covid?
It's not about Covid. It is meant as a metaphor for climate change.

It was not supposed to be about covid.
But there can be similarities with covid. Like the government pushing unverified science (or let's say that some disagree with) so the corporations can make a quick buck from a bad situation.

Hahaha, omg that's awesome. The Climate Change = Asteroid/Comet is stupid because that would be an instant impact ELE. Climate Change takes centuries/millennia/millions of years to equal an ELE such as a comet or meteor...dear lord.
The problem here is that Hollywood is too busy fucking children and covering it up to the point they can't think straight and arrange a cohesive/coherent plot narrative.
Climate change normally takes millions of years. However in just the last 200 years we have changed the climate more than it would change in a million years at any point in earths history except one - the asteroid that killed the dinosaurs.
