honestly when the time came for our local weather report I switched to that and never did go back to finish the movie. That was with 10 or 15 minutes left and I could sense a schmaltzy finale and that, as often happens in "rom-coms," there would not be much laughter or even attempts at laughter in the last reel. I assume that they got married and the movie ended with a baby, no?

That's a shame you turned it off. The ending was perfect. Very thoughtful, as was the rest of the film. Then again, if you thought it was a "rom-com" and didn't see beyond "mildly amusing" for the first 1:15, there would really be no reason for you to watch the last :15. You were probably right to focus on the weather report.
