Ending would have been better if...

Yes, I do like this movie. I know a lot of people don't, but we all have our opinions, of course. I don't intend to start a flamewar here.

Anyway, I showed this movie to a friend last night and it occurred to me. A better ending would have been if Christine's backing away from Clay and refusing to take back the button made Clay the new owner. Then he would have been dragged down and Chris would have been nailed by the train. Even more gruesome and unpleasant, but a better twist IMHO.

I don't agree that that would have been a better twist. It would barely have been a twist at all. The button-holder getting dragged to hell was exactly what Christine expected to happen. But in the end, that's not what happens ....

Fair enough. I've actually never seen "Thinner" because I haven't gotten around to reading the book yet and I usually try to read books before seeing movies. I don't mind the spoiler, though, sounds fairly predictable anyway, haha.

I suppose, considering the film's creators felt that Mrs. Ganush was the victim in this story, you're probably right about Christine not being expected to have sympathy from the audience.

I like it...i would've like to have seen Mrs. Ganush be stuck w/ it though instead of Clay. That would've been better.

That wouldn't work since she never made a gift of it to him. Remember, it has to be intentionally given and she didn't intend to give it to him. That would not be a better twist because it contradicts the rules that were established earlier.

I like that so much better. Clay was such a sh!thead for completely dismissing everything she was trying to confide in him. Your ending has her die a quick death, and him burning in hell. Believe her now, b!tch?

Erm the ending was awful when the GOAT STARTED SPEAKING!!!

I did sorta think that she was going to give it to Clay, intentionally or not.
