Paul Thomas Anderson

One of the very few great directors outside of the Spielberg/Scorsese/Coppola 70’s gang.

Hollywood is such toxic, woke shithole that I’m amazed he can still get stuff made, yet he does, and from the trailer this looks as unique and impressive as all his other projects.

It’s ‘diverse’ without being a United Colours of Benetton ad - the actors look like real people - a bit overweight and a bit ugly, and it’s set in the early 70’s, when the world still made sense.

I’m looking forward to returning to that place and getting lost in another PTA masterwork.

Holy shit, please shut the fuck up

PTA would probably laugh at you if he read this

Triggering a woke prick is one of the most rewarding things one can experience. Thank you.

reply

I'm sure you "trigger" a lot of pricks

I’m sure your mind takes you to such places all the time.

[deleted] sorry I confused this guy with some other art house type of director. ignore what I said, wrong guy, wrong statements

reply

That you are, have you seen Hard Eight? Just curious.

reply

I love Terry Gilliam movies.

reply

When is the last time you saw a PTA film? Over a decade ago? Two decades ago?

reply

forgive me, I have confused THIS guy with some other director whom I really can't stand, so I will retract my comment since it doesn't apply here at all

Lynch? Aronofsky? Von Trier? Haneke? Get out, son.

reply

Lynch is sort of in that 70’s gang. He’s ancient now and hasn’t made a feature since Inland Empire in 2006, and likely won’t make another.

Aronofsky’s… a mixed bag. More hits than misses but again, where’s the output?

Von Trier’s incredible, Haneke’s decent, but they’re not American and I’m pining for when Hollywood was populated by great filmmakers.
