Dear God....

I LOVED the first Crank movie and as a woman was jealous of the old lady he humped in this sequel. But, everyone involved in the creation of this film deserves an ass kicking. It was just...bad. Laughably so. Jason Statham still has a great ass though.

reply

You realize this was in no way a serious movie, I presume?

That's a big problem I'm noticing with a lot of people's scathing reviews. This movie is over-the-top intentionally. It's pretty much camp.

reply

Oh yeah. Of course. lol. But, it was just so ridiculous I had to say something. :)

reply

That's the problem these days, though, way too many movies just claim to be "over the top" and can get away with about anything, no matter how stupid it is.

reply

[deleted]

Yeah I thought so too. The first was great but this was really bad and stupid in places, it felt like it was made by game playing virgins who had never been close to the opposite sex before.

It was embarrassing to watch.

reply

I know these movies are supposed to be over the top but the scene at the power station where Chev and the asian guy fight like it's Godzilla vs King Kong was just bad and embarassing. By the way someone needs to buy Bai Ling a sandwich. Damn that girl is skinny.

reply

The scene were Chev and aisan villian fight like Godzilla is tribute to the film director who made godzilla and not metion Janson Statham happen to like godzilla movie

so what if its a tribute to people associated in the movie. that doesnt mean they should put things in that are totally out of place and dont work in my opinion

reply

Well, see, you thought it was out of place. I am glad you are pretty much the only person here who qualified your statement with an "in my opinion." As far as I am concerned, the directors decide what is and isn't out of place. Sort of like Community; a lot of fans were turned off by the most recent season because it descended so far into its own weirdness. It got even more niche than ever, and an even smaller group of people liked it than those who normally do. I think the same thing happened here. Crank, while hilarious and awesome, isn't for everyone. But I think most would find something to like in it. This one is even gorier, even more sexual, and even deeper into the montages and references, so you really have to fit into that specific niche to like this movie as much as the first one. I loved it. I was laughing out loud in tons of places--certainly a lot more than I did in the first. I am lucky to be in the niche for which this film was intended. I respect the guys who made this for going that much weirder, rather than shying away from it for fear of not getting as positive a response. I get that some people where hot/cold with this one, and some even outright hated it. I definitely loved it, though. To each his own.

You got it! You got it!
Smart bloke.

I loved this film too and I'm just discovering JS.

OK.
It's daft, but it's stylish.
And yes it's got dodgy bits and unPC references.
But only someone with a very thin skin and yea number of hang-ups and baggage could possibly take offence.

It's funny, funny, funny.

And I belong to three minority groups - so there's a lot I could get pissed off about, but life's too short.
Literally, in my case.

But if you can keep up, it's great fun.
Entertainment for anyone who doesn't take themselves too seriously.

My, my - people are so. . conventional these days.

So respect to the writers, the directors,JS the man and Lionsgate,of course.

JS is a good actor, cute and even manages to give the impression that you could have a pint & a chat with him.
Not always the case with actors - trust me on this.

Anyway, nature will kick in eventually.
He won't be able to make many more kick-ass films.

But I'm glad he made these

Thank you. I recently watched these back to back with a friend ho hadn't seen them, and she loved both parts. I did notice differences in the movie--mainly that the original used almost all fast-paced rock/punk type music for the score while the second didn't, which sort of effects the perception of the pacing, but other than that it was practically the same movie, and just as good.

Also, I agree about JS. He is absolutely the kind of person you could hang out with. If you didn't know, he got discovered by Guy Ritchie while peddling fake jewelry outside of a real jewelry store, and got put in "Lock, Stock, & Two Smoking Barrels" (a *beep* fantastic movie--also see: "Snatch"). So he was basically a scalper sort of guy. Also, he had been training as a diver after seeing some guy do an impressive dive as a kid, and went to a few olympic trials, but never quiet made the olympic team. But he's a really normal, down to Earth guy, probably because he grew up lower/lower-middle class, and isn't rich, from an acting family, and full of himself like other actors, nor has he let the fame get to him and change him.

It is a shame that he will indeed have to back off of the bad-ass eventually. Granted, he is in Expendables, which features tons of guys who are way "too old" for action, but their brand of action is different from his, and he won't be able to take the abuse forever. Like Jackie Chan and his retirement form action films because he does his own stunts and just can't handle it any more.

reply

this is not true about how he was discovered, he was a male model and the company he worked for were investing in Lock Stock and Jason met Guy through the fashion company. its in his imdb bio.

reply

Ha, wow, I barely even remember writing this. Yeah, I think I got that from like a trivia section on one of his movies or something--that he was a huckster and Guy Ritchie liked him. You are right--that is incorrect. The diving thing is true, though, as far as I know, and he does almost all of his own driving in films, which is pretty cool.

reply

ha yeh sorry never take time into account when posting on these things.
its funny everything you said happened, just in a slightly different way but it happened to paint quite a different picture of him.

reply

We all get the Godzilla connection. That's the part that sucked.

reply

I fully agree with you MammaJamma99 about that Godzilla spoof fight scene. It was embarrasing and just plain bad. It felt very out of place and it seemed like a scene that Trey Parker and Matt Stone would put in one of their projects.

reply

I did love this movie ,despite how bad it is. I love bad movies. But, I thought this movie was funny as hell. The only part i was not crazy about was the King Kong vs Godzilla part. I just thought it was strange. Even thought I live strage stuff , it was way out there.

reply

I bet you're a virgin too. And not out of choice.

Hama cheez ba-Beer behtar meshawad!

reply

I've seen the whole movie! I really liked the first one and ALL the other Jason Statham films!
But this?

THIS IS THE WORST MOVIE!!! EVER!!!

If there is anyone on this planet who liked it has a very horrible taste!

reply

This movie is exactly the same as the first, but even more crazy and weird. i *beep* loved it!!!

Where the **** are my hard-boiled eggs?

reply

Crank 2 doesn't take itself seriously that idea and for both Crank movies so over top cheesy fun.

Agreed. The first Crank was yes over the top and trashy, but very fun and enjoyable. This one was pure and simple garbage.

Boycott movies that involve real animal violence! (and their directors too)
